I have two placements at present. The first placement is with Homestart, working with families facing substance abuse, grief, domestic violence, relationship issues, and trauma.
My second placement is at New Era. This involves mainly working with children with a variety of needs, but also adults if required. Both placements require demonstrating active listening, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and introspection to build therapeutic relationships. I am committed to ethical and professional conduct, prioritising client safety and well-being. Skilled in collaboration with mentors, coordinators, and external professionals. Excellent organisational abilities, managing personal caseload and client scheduling.
Followed a five-stage strategy to provide empathetic and supportive services. Encourage clients to express their feelings through motivation, empathy, and support. Ensured compliance with legal requirements and internal safeguarding policies. Assessed risks and tailored an approach to individuals' needs. Actively listened, asked open questions, and paraphrased understandings of clients' situations. Created a safe space for users, prioritising safeguarding.
Due to circumstances within the family, I gave up work to support my child through her mental illness.
