i have worked with adults with Autism for 4 years. 5 females and 3 male.
Some non-verbal, some with extreme behaviours, some who need a lot of encouragement. I support them in their everyday tasks, activities, personal care, appointments. I encourage them to be independent and included in society. I have a duty of care to them all to care for their health and wellbeing, keep them safe from harm. I will do this by following their care plans, following policies and procedures, working as part of a team also with parents and professional's, and ongoing training, i need to be their voice when needed as they all lack capacity to make important decisions. I need to respect their dignity in personal care, respect their religion and their choices.
There are daily routines to be carried out like fridge, freezer, water, food temperatures, food rotation. general housework, food shopping, washing, cooking meals, medication cabinet temperatures, epileptic seizure alarms checked in beds. all paperwork has to be recorded and kept up to date.
Some students go to college for activities, others I will support in swimming, shopping, walking, salon, ect, or arts and crafts in residence, jigsaws, games, gardening, ect.
I also have monthly Jobs restocking non prescribed medication, fire alarm evacuation plan, smart targets, residents meetings, check individual support plans, care files, medication files, health and safety checks, are up to date for CQC.
I am a hard working and flexible. I appreciate good and bad feedback.
