Volunteering and Work Experience

Event Support, Holland and Barrett, Cardiff- With the company, I volunteered to help their community wellness team by supporting with an event they held at Cardiff MET university. This involved a stand that contained a spin the wheel opportunity to win products and promotional deals to promote the opening of their new store in Cardiff. I found this opportunity very fulfilling as it's an industry I would like to go into in the future whilst also allowing me to gain further insight into the company and its products.

Event Support, St. Richards Hospice, Worcester- In sixth form I did volunteer work experience for St. Richards hospice. I worked primarily in the office, creating materials that would be used for upcoming events and campaigns. This helped create funding for the non-profit organisation and also raised money for individuals under their care. I found this very rewarding as being able to support the organisation allowed to to help lots of individuals in many contexts, which will also be something I aim to do in any role I am put in.

Head of the Mental Health Committee, Sixth form - Involved managing and representing the committee, to effectively delegate tasks to the correct members. This committee was created to support students with their mental health, this being a theme close to my heart. To create events and mural displays I had to analyse effective timescales, promotion and bugdeting. This allowed me to produce a more overall positive environment for the students to learn in.

Head of Fundraising, Events Society, Sixth Form- In this role I was given the responsibility to organise fundraising ideas for the society, this was a key aspect as it needed funds to organise and produce the events we wanted to make for ourselves and the younger years in school. I worked with lots of people including the assistant fundraisers so the best possible event could be achieved.
