I first started care work eight years ago due to a family friends father being diagnosed with lewy body dementia. I acted as the 2 double up for the care company and that spiralled into a vocation.
my mother also suffered with primary progressive multiple sclerosis which gave me the chance to really understand invisible disabilities from a young age.
I was also, from then, introduced to palliative care as both family member sadly passed away.
This made me far more aware that quality of life is the essence of my work.
Over my 8 years I have made person centred care my priority as well as adhering to the company's policies and procedures. This has enabled me to form strong bonds with both colleagues and clients as well as collecting qualifications withing my job.
My responsibilities have involved compassion, dignity, respect, patience, having a thick skin, communication amongst many others.
I have loved my job but am now excited to try something in a different field.

Completed Level 3 in Lead Adult Care Work and Level 2 in Safe Handling and Administration of Medication.
I have applied my knowledge from my qualifications to provide safe care and address challenges promptly.
My responsibilities have included dignified personal care, administering medication, accurate recording and reporting to management via our app and over the phone following data protection and respecting the individuals right to keeping their information confidential, food preparation, household chores to a high standard following COSHH, assessments of situations for safety following RIDDOR, moving and handling, liaising with other healthcare professionals such as 111, ambulance crews, paramedics, general practitioners, district nurses as well as family members, and also training up new staff and easing them into the industry, building their knowledge and confidence and ensuring the safety of the service users.

I also assisted management by keeping records and care plans up to date and communicated individuals care requirements enabling them to receive the best care possible.
we also provided food prep and moving and handling as well as personal care and provided activity's along side liaising with our activities manager to promote a community based living arrangement.
I have received employee of the quarter and as a fun reward in our most recent award ceremony, the person to cuddle the bosses dog the most (it's a family run business).
as already mentioned, I have achieved my level 3 as a lead adult care worker along with a level 2 in understanding the safe handling of medication in health and social care
