01.2022 - 01.2025

This job role included working as part of a two man team refurbishing alloy wheels using specialist Equipment and paint/powder coating methods to produce untraceable repairs and colour changes to any style of alloy wheel. The process would involve bringing the customers car into the workshop, safely jacking up the car supported by stands and removing wheels to work on. I would then carefully strip the wheel of the tyres, ensuring no damage, balance weights and carefully any TPMS valves for the customers use after refurbishment. The wheels would then get dipped into an acid tank by hand. When ready they were lifted out, alkalised and then sand blasted using a wet vapour machine that blasts glass beads, sand grains and water at the same time, leaving a perfectly prepped finish. I would then carefully inspect each face, spoke and barrels of the wheels for damage, TIG weld up any cracks or deep Gashes & hand sand the face and lips down building up and taking away material where necessary, all to help achieve an untraceable finish. Wheels were then de-gassed in a walk-in oven, pulled out and primed using state of the art powder coat machines & Technology. I would then set up the hand spray machines for base and top coat. We bought the paints pre-mixed to keep turnover times down. I would then powder coat lacquer or hand spray it depending on the type of job I was doing. I then carefully mounted the tyres back on, replaced valves and balanced the wheels before finally installing them back on the car ready for the customer to collect.
