Skills

Knowledge and conservatism:

  • Although I have no direct experience in operations on power station plant, the experience I have in heating and water systems, particularly within the commercial aspect of my previous roles is relative My skills and experience in fault finding and repair will aid me quickly understand systems and components in addition to dealing with any minor defects that may cause issue with tasks
  • As part of my roles it has always been important to understand the consequences of any actions prior to making them, whether it is carrying out a repair, taking equipment out of service or carrying out test runs of equipment after install / maintenance I understand the importance to stop any activities where there are doubts over the expected outcome or material condition of the equipment being worked on Whenever a situation arises where I am unsure I have always looked for further advice or information to be able to make informed decisions

Team work:

  • I am able to work effectively as part of a team I have experience as both a team member and team leader, with good communication and conflict resolution skills I understand the need at times to step outside my own role to assist others and have found it a useful tool for broadening my own knowledge and skill set when doing so
  • Communication is a key skill for this role as well as my previous roles This can be effective in ensuring the whole team is aware of all tasks that are ongoing and can share any previous experience they may have had from similar tasks I understand the importance of effective handovers with relevant details to ensure work can continue without error

Monitoring and Control:

  • My experience carrying out inspections and supervision has taught me to be diligent even in areas that may seem fine Many defects that start minor can have larger consequences if left to deteriorate This can be unusual sounds from a pump to minor leaks from pipework As such I have developed a low tolerance to poor work / equipment standards I always make sure to follow up on any found defect to ensure it is addressed before handing over
  • I always ensure I have the correct documentation whilst carrying out work This includes documentation from risk assessments to manufacturers instructions / installation procedures This is key for getting tasks right first time every time

Affiliations

I am a keen rugby player, I enjoy taking the time to go fresh water fishing, in spare time like to go for walks out and take time away to sit a watch a new film.
