I believe I have many skills that would be valuable in any workplace. Recently, I took part in a charity event in which I promoted multiple charities in various locations around the west midlands. This involved speaking to members of the public in order to raise money, collecting cash and taking payments electronically using a card reader. This shows how I am sociable and comfortable when speaking with members of the public or customers in the workplace. I can work well with others and I also have excellent leadership skills; as a musician, I have been in many bands as a drummer, guitarist and a singer, therefore I have a lot of experience with working as a team. For example, I was involved in the arranging and setting up of multiple concerts and music events such as the SHAPE Festival at Sandwell Valley in 2024, which also shows how I am a responsible and organised worker. I am reliable and punctual and I always meet required deadlines such as when I attend band rehearsals and learn songs to perform on specific dates. I have been interested in music since I was very young. I began learning drums at the age of 11 and, after performing very well on my grade 6 just last year, I have now completed my grade 8 which is the highest of the grades and I believe I did very well. I am also a self taught guitarist and I believe I am at a fairly good level for the 2 and a half years that I have been playing. This shows how I am a devoted worker and I am willing to go that extra mile to achieve my goals. I also think this shows how I am great at handling multiple tasks as I play and practice multiple instruments.
Although this information may seem very specific to a line of work in music, I believe it shows how I am an ambitious and dedicated worker and I would fit well in many different types of jobs.
I did this job in my mandatory year 10 week of work experience. During my time with SIPS, I taught students of different ages at multiple schools in both one to one lessons as well as classroom based lessons. I visited both primary and secondary schools which involved working with children of various ages and providing them with advice and guidance. This is a transferable skill that can be used in a customer facing/retail role. I received great feedback from teachers and students with one teacher telling me that the students wanted me to come back the following week. During this experience, I had a set time to be at work with various shift patterns and this helped me to become a reliable and punctual worker. In addition, I had to report to multiple supervisors/teachers on a daily basis and I was able to communicate and get along well with all of them.
