I offer a strong background in customer service, team leadership, and in-person and online sales. I am knowledgeable about how to deliver positive customer experiences whilst simultaneously managing a happy and motivated team. I learnt and developed skills in people management, inventory control, and problem-solving throughout my career in retail, and have learnt profit-making techniques and have gained experience in working behind the scenes of a successful marketplace and e-commerce store, using platforms such as Amazon and Shopify.
In my most recent role, I have gained experience of e-commerce inventory and order management software systems such as Linnworks and AIMCO Packing Partner. I have also used marketplace platforms such as Shopify, Amazon Seller Central and eBay marketplace to fulfil orders, populate websites and upload listings, deal with customer enquiries and manage inventory.
I completed sixth form and knew I wanted to go straight into the world of work. I became a seasonal retail assistant at Next, and then moved onto another retail role at Toys R Us after the season months had passed. I began there as a retail assistant and worked my way up to Assistant Store Manager. Responsibilities along the way included opening and closing procedures of a large retail store, cashing up tills at the end of sale each day, finding and settling discrepancies and issues found during this process. By assuming a more senior role in a retail setting at young age it helped me learn how to manage people differently depending on needs and what motivates them whilst they are at work. It helped being surrounded by staff of a similar age to me, I felt I knew what they required whilst being in a workplace and feel this gave me an advantage when managing and delegating tasks and roles during shifts.
This experience of leadership and people management aided me in my next roles. Even though this role did not feature face to face interaction with customers, customer service tasks were still maintained through email and messaging channels through e-commerce platforms. A contrast to shop floor management, this warehouse role required efficient and mistake free picking, packing and dispatching of large volumes of orders throughout the day. Further responsibilities included the loading of couriers at the end of the day, the unloading of containers, forklifting operations, inventory management and general warehouse upkeep.
The other side of the role was office based work, including printing and delegation of daily orders, dealing with customer service enquiries over emails and sales channel messaging services, working with courier reps to secure the best rates and necessary collections needed.
I also have some knowledge of freight operations as we frequently transported our own branded goods in from places such as China, India and Taiwan. This is an industry which interest me and something I would be keen to learn more about.
