Honest and hardworking engineer, with a strong desire to progress and develop skills further. Familiar with a wide range of engineering problems and solutions. Competent in producing designs, completing technical reviews, producing designers risk assessments, and project management. Proactive in solving problems alone, whilst also being confident to communicate with others as part of a team.
During my time at Westlakes Engineering, I have been involved with a variety of projects, in a number of roles. Typically in the nuclear decommissioning, water, and commercial sectors. This level of experience has given me exposure to a number of roles, such as; originating calculations, reports, and risk assessments, managing projects and working with clients, attending a plethora of site visits, and guiding junior engineers when required. I am capable of carrying out tasks alone, whilst also as working as part of a team to produce a high standard of deliverable for clients, whilst staying on programme, and on budget.
In more recent years I have worked on a number of water related projects, specifically waste water treatment works (WwTW) and I have some experience in work on reservoirs also. These projects consisted of improvement works to existing sites. As a civil / structural engineer, the tasks involved with these improvement works consisted of foundation design, road design, drainage design, flotation checks on sub-surface chambers etc. Some examples of the sites I have worked on are Kingsley WwTW, Windermere WwTW, Hethersgill WwTW, Whitegate WwTW, Stocks Reservoir, and Anglezarke Reservoir. The Kingsley WwTW project is one I managed, which involved attending client meetings as well as having discussions with mechanical engineers to ensure our designs and drawings would meet United Utilities standards. I worked closely with my team to produce a number of construction drawings based on the designs we had carried out, which have now been issued for construction and work has started on site. This project is still ongoing but it is on track to meet the client and United Utilities deadline.
Since leaving university and starting my career with Westlakes Engineering, I had been progressing towards chartership status with the IStructE, but have recently swapped over to the ICE, which I have multiple years worth of experience to submit. Chartership status is something I would like to achieve within the few years.
