My role for the SFRS on call fire service consists of responding to a pager activated system when available for my local community. The 4 main values I have learnt so far from this job are,
Safety for myself and my work colleges whether that be at a incident or on station, the safety for the local community is also very important whether it be on or off the station.
Teamwork is a big value being able to work together in a team in time critical situations whilst keeping a high standard of work.
Respect is a very important value in and out the SFRS, always treating every situation I am faced with at the same face value no matter the circumstance.
Innovation is a important part of my job whether it be at an incident and having to problem solve a situation and working together to find a solution or it be at the station playing a vital part in the crew to complete tests.
My day-to-day job for this company is to detail all cars that come in and out of the workshop. I work as part of a large workshop team, with 4 valeters within this team. I have gained a huge amount of experience working as part of a team or on my own, meeting deadlines and ensuring cars are completed to the highest standard and the best of my ability. Safety is always at the forefront of my day, as I need to ensure my PPE is checked, clean and ready for use before touching a car, Safety is always important as we are within a busy workshop area. Due to the high use of chemicals, we use, I have to ensure these are stocked properly and all data sheets are read and understood prior to using.
