Summary

I have been working for DS Smith Paper for nineteen years and live in Iwade near Sittingbourne, Kent.

I have been married to my wife for thirteen years and we have two children aged eleven and nine.

I am currently employed as a Senior Shift Manager and I am responsible for E shift on a 5 shift pattern.

I am responsible for 24 team members who work across three paper machines producing Plasterboard and Liner Grades.

I support the team by leading problem solving exercises, as well as developing Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Systems of Work to share among our colleagues on other shifts with the aim to continuously improve our process's.

I have completed a CMI Level 5 Leadership and Management course through Fuel Learning which I passed with Distinction.

I have also recently completed a NEBOSH course and I am awaiting my exam results which will be delivered on the 19th May 2025.

I have a very good knowledge of the papermaking process and during the time I spent at Gernsbach Paper Centre Germany I qualified as a Paper Technologist. While Gurnsbach Paper Centre allowed me to develop good theoretical understanding of the papermaking process working within the industry has given me vast practical experience.

I have also taken great personal satisfaction in supporting and teaching my team to allow them to grow and develop into more competent operators and push them to progress within the industry.

Senior Shift Manager

As a Senior Shift Manager I have the responsibility of running a successful shift of 24 team members with the aim of achieving maximum output within customer specification across three paper machines, whilst promoting a positive Health and Safety culture.

This includes ensuring all downtime is kept to a minimum through sharing best practices, utilizing good problem solving skills to establish the root cause of production defects or machine runability issues. Also implementing corrective actions to any issues which have a negative impact on productivity.

I have proven track record of identifying talent and building a strong team who have improved in all areas of productivity across the paper machines.

  • During this time I attended a number of placements at different parts of Kemsley including; Stock preparation, De-inking plant and PM3 giving me a good oversight of the requirements across site

  • I was working as an Assistant Dryman on PM3 for 6 years and during this time have undertook the Dryman's role (due to sickness cover) for a year.
  • My main duties were to test the paper for the quality specified and to assist the Dryman whenever needed.
  • While doing this role I gained a good understanding of the machine and the requirements of a Dryman to maintain an efficient process.
