LEWIS ANDERSON

Weston-Super-Mare,North Somerset

Summary

I am currently searching for a welding / Fabrication role within the classic vehicle / motorsports sectors.

I have always had a a passion for classic cars and Motorcycles, and I have been restoring them in my own time.

It was this interest that led me to recently self fund two separate night school classes at Weston College to learn MIG and TIG welding for steel and aluminium, alongside my full time job.

I was then head hunted for a welding job which ultimately was not sustainable due to the company struggling for orders and implementing a significant reduction in contracted hours. At which time my former employer offered me more responsibility to return.

Since then I have been looking for further welding opportunities especially within classic vehicle restoration and motorsports sectors as it has always been my dream to base my career around this, following multiple motorsports organisations from a young age and fixing and modifying classic vehicles of my own.

Work history

Van Converter / Supervisor

Skyline Roofs
2025.06 - Current

• After Supervising the production side of the company over a 20 month period, I took an exciting opportunity to advance to yet another department within Skyline roofs.

In the past 11 months I have taken on the role of 'Van converter' whilst maintaining my supervisor position.

I was excited for this challenge as I come from a background of working on vehicles and working with hand and power tools.

I have been able to expand my skill set and knowledge, working on different van conversions daily.

Workshop Supervisor

Skyline Roofs
2023.09 - 2026.05
  • Returning to the company after a being offered a promotion and coinciding with Signscape reducing hours. I became a workshop supervisor, responsible for my team, ensuring production deadlines were met, ordering and managing stock, liaising with other departments and the more general upkeep and health and safety regulations of the workshop. I enjoyed the extra responsibility, but I still enjoy the practical side of the job, something I wanted more of.

Fabricator / Aluminium TIG Welder

Signscape
2023.07 - 2023.09
  • Aluminium fabricator welder, where my main responsibly was manufacturing aluminium signs and display cases. I enhanced my skills on a wide variety of tools and enhanced my aluminium TIG welding skills. Here I has the opportunity to learn powder coating, adding it to my skill base. It was this position that cemented my interest in welding and has confirmed this is the career path I want.

Roof builder

Skyline Roofs
2022.01 - 2023.07
  • Self employed position, where I managed my work load to met strict delivery deadlines, through building composite fiberglass pop top roofs for van conversions. I was in charge of stock check and ordering materials. In this position I developed skills around working with fiberglass and aluminium.

Sales Executive

CCR Motor Co. Renault and Dacia
2019.11 - 2022.01
  • This role requires a high level of professionalism as it is a customer facing role. Working both independently and as part of a team, I delivered a high level of customer satisfaction whilst helping customers find their desired vehicle. In the time I spent here I was always on time, often stayed late and worked unpaid overtime to help the business succeed. I took it upon myself to maintain and update the vehicle adverts on the website as I noticed it was an area of weakness within the business. I also had trainee sales executives shadow me for the last month, teaching them the role as they have no previous experience in car sales, something I enjoyed as I was able to progress by taking on additional responsibility.

Trainee Sales Executive

Simonstone Hyundai
2019.07 - 2019.11
  • In a similar role to my position at Renault, the work here also required a professional approach whilst I learnt the trade. Having to hit the ground running with no previous sales experience, I had to learn fast to keep up with targets and keep financial and legal records of sales.

Apprentice Vehicle Technician

Mercedes-Benz
2019.01 - 2019.06
  • Having an interest in cars, at this age I decided to pursue a hands on role to learn more about the mechanical and technical side of vehicle maintenance. In this role I worked with many different tools and materials, operated and maintained hand and power tools, used hydraulic lifts and was also trained to inspect and maintain a record of the safety checks of this equipment. This required a high level of concentration and attention to detail as mistakes could prove dangerous. Using the manufacturers digital data base of technical drawings and wiring diagrams, I was able to understand how components work and fit together, allowing me to diagnose faulty parts before carrying out repairs. Cleaning and maintaining the equipment and my mentors tools was one of my daily tasks. I was always on time and was always willing to put in the hard work that would come with the job.
