Livestock Officer

Kent Life Heritage Farm Park
Maidstone, Kent
03.2024 - Current

In my work at Kent Life, I am responsible for managing day to day maintenance and care of a variety of small animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits, and larger livestock animals like sheep, goats, equine, poultry and water fowl. My job role requires me to perform a range of jobs efficiently under strict time restraints such as feeding at set times, performing cleaning tasks to a high standard as the site is open to the public and managing and administering medications to small and large animals at specific times. In my role at Kent Life I have also gained various experience in handling and restraint of many animals, making me very comfortable with being around and handling animals that may be larger or with scared or aggressive temperaments. Skills I have acquired in my job role that I believe are transferrable to the grooming industry include my experience in grooming of equine such as ponies, donkeys and large horses, this includes washing, brushing and mane and tail cutting. Along with this I also have a plethora of experience in nail clipping and foot trimming of animals such as ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep and goats. My job role as Livestock Officer also requires me to engage with customers, such as answering questions and performing educational workshops to large groups.
