I worked at a Sexual Assault Referral Centre as a Crisis Worker for over four years. My job role is to:

  • act as a support worker and advocate for sexual assault and rape victims; collect forensic evidence; assist nurses and/or doctors for intimate examinations; providing necessary routes for adequate after-care and forensic cleaning duties.
  • Forensic cleaning here was essential to prevent cross-contamination to ensure the client’s case could never be jeopardized.
  • Outside of this main role, I also covered office admin duties when sick cover or annual leave cover is required.
  • Admin duties consist of data entry, client referrals, stock checks and orders, cleaning and other general office duties.
  • Improved client outcomes with comprehensive risk assessments, safety planning, and resource allocation.
  • Provided empathetic support to clients in crisis, guiding them towards appropriate resources and interventions.


I have worked with clients from 4 months to 90 years old. The clientele I have dealt with over the years have come from all walks of life, some with mental and physical disabilities and others with substance abuse problems.


I have leased closely with police, social services and other multiagency teams to achieve the best outcomes for anyone who has been under my care. This was a very rewarding and demanding job. Being able to manage difficult and awkward situations is something that I have become naturally accustomed to.
