Lela has been emotionally engaged in music since she began her piano studies at the age of 5. Along with graduating in Piano Performance at BYU studying under Dr. Jared Pierce, Lela has had lessons with world-renowned pianists Natalia Antonova, Dr. Del Parkinson, and Antoinette Von Zabner. Lela has a rich background experience performing with various ensembles, instrumentalists, and personal repertoire. Currently, Lela is researching ways music can improve brain function and emotional well-being at the University of Sheffield. In addition, her focus is on how visualization and journaling in musical practice can enhance performance abilities, which she has presented at two conferences. Lela’s goal in research and teaching is to help individuals reach their fullest potential through music by providing them with effective techniques and tools.
