I have worked in a variety of roles within education over the past 8 years and I have developed the skills to work with children of all ages and needs. I have also worked in different settings across the city I work within, including mainstream and enhanced classes. I am a dedicated professional with expertise in special needs support and adaptable teaching methods, leveraging extensive experience with the EYFS framework. Proven ability in team building and coaching conversations, enhancing communication skills to effectively solve problems. I am currently a Principal Teacher with the ability for creating engaging learning environments. Enhanced student outcomes through innovative curriculum design and collaborative leadership. As Principal Teacher of Supporting Learners, I am part of the Senior Leadership Team within a school of around 400 pupils. I have responsibility for Leadership, Good Management and Strategic Direction of Colleagues as well as a range of other strategic responsibilities across the school.
A significant aspect of my role is to contribute to our school self evaluation and drive forward discussions and strategies to
achieve the targets outlined in our School Improvement Plan. I an responsible for managing and co-ordinating assigned areas of my school development plan.
I lead and motivate teaching and support staff to continuously improve knowledge and abilities for optimum student education and support.
I oversee and manage the staff team of teachers and support staff in the the school in delivering quality learning and teaching and pastoral care for our children. In my role, I have a number of classes that I oversee across the school, including four enhanced
area classes as well as several mainstream classes.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, I have a remit for driving forward specific projects across the school linked to our School
Improvement Plan. I attend weekly Senior Leadership Team Meetings where we discuss our school priorities regularly and identify next steps.
I have accountability for a allocated budgets.
I have the responsibility of providing Pastoral Care for teachers and support staff across the school. I have oversee staff across
the school and lead professional discussions for my assigned staff each year. I have coaching conversations with staff and
support them in identifying their development needs and direct them towards any CLPL opportunities that are available through
the cluster, council or Education Scotland.
I have a Health and Safety remit within the school and I am an identified Child Protection officer and Fire Marshall.
I have oversight and stage responsibilities for assigned classes across the school. I support staff with the management of their
classes and work alongside staff to develop upon the planning and delivery of the Curriculum and ensure that the classroom
environments reflect our school policies and expectations.
I have oversight of ensuring that all children in the school have the appropriate care plans to address any barriers to learning and that these are shared with staff and families through the appropriate methods including Team Around the Child Meetings. I prepare reports and attend a variety of Multi-agency meeting such as Looked After Children Reviews and Children's Reporter reviews.
I have a responsibility of gathering appropriate data for the school and lead Attainment Reviews and Tracking Meetings with staff across the school. I support staff in understanding the attainment of their classes and support them in identifying appropriate interventions for the children in their class.
This year, I have been involved in a SIP Project that is focused on improving attendance in our school. This has led to me attending
a National Training Programme in Glasgow.
I regularly liaise with parents and partners through Parent Council Meetings and digital media to consult with them regarding any significant plans or decisions coming from the school including our School Improvement plan.
I have a responsibility for monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the quality of learning and teaching in relation to pupils’
experience. This includes the application of agreed authority and school quality assurance procedures and contributing to the school’s Standards and Quality Report and School Improvement Plan.
I promote staff collaboration through regular team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
As a classroom teacher within a mainstream classroom I was required to deliver a well-rounded curriculum and ensure all the children in my class were given a quality learning experience. I planned, delivered and assessed learning using my knowledge of the curriculum, educational theories and current policies and guidelines to teach children across early to second level.
I developed a critical understanding of current priorities within Scottish education including closing the attainment gap and committed myself to ongoing professional learning that gave
me the knowledge and understanding to address these in my own practice.
It was vital that I was embodying and, where appropriate contributing to, the visions, values and ethos of the learning community and embracing the principals of inclusive practices at all times. In doing so, it was necessary I was acting in a respectful manner to all staff and learners in the school community.
I would be aware of the different needs within my class and any barriers to learning that the children may have to ensure that they were appropriately supporting in their learning.
I collaborated with a range of stakeholders including families and other professionals to ensure the safeguard and welfare of all learners.
