I have been a nurse for 10 years and am keen to utilise my skills and knowledge and contribute to the rising demand for diagnostic assessments. I have worked with children and adults with neurodevelopmental conditions; in both diagnostic and clinical roles. I have the communication, leadership, interpersonal skills to be a great member of a diagnostic team. I work with passion, commitment and professionalism to ensure people are heard, listened to and understood. Throughout my years in the NHS, I have developed a vast amount of skills which would make me an excellent candidate. I have experience and skills in diagnostic assessment of autism, ADHD, LD, and FASD. I have great confidence in my knowledge and skills and this is most evident when facilitating post-diagnostic support groups for parents, young people and adults. I am a compassionate and friendly individual and thrive when I am in a position of being able to help and understand people, particularly through challenges in their life.
CAMHS reach out service supports young people and children who are impacted by parental mental health/neurodevelopmental conditions. I work closely with children who may be experiencing their own mental health issues and living with a parent who also has a chronic mental health problem or debilitating neurodevelopmental condition. This role involves me working with children 0-18 and working closely with child psychotherapists within the infant MH team.
This role involves me building close, meaningful therapeutic relationships with YP and their parents to build on the child/parent relationship and improve quality of life for both.
It involves:
• Communicating at a high level with a range of professionals including PNA’s, team leader, staff nurses and lecturers within higher education.
• Adapting my communication level to facilitate good working relationships with a variety of individuals.
• Communicating verbally, as well as via email to facilitate effective and efficient communication and joint working.
• Offering support, advice and advocating for mentors when dealing with challenging situations.
• Facilitating, organising and chairing meetings to discuss concerns and develop action plans.
• Working closely and taking part in teaching and assessments with HEI ie interview process and examinations.
• Educational audit, compiling reports and summaries on progress, activity and issues.
• Developing good working relationships with team leaders and staff to facilitate joint working.
• Implementing NES initiative’s in practice areas by educating and supporting staff & managers on new programmes and changes to policy.
• Keeping myself up to date with new policies and legislation relating to a variety of clinical areas.
• Supporting a wide range of staff with revalidation and triennial reviews through presentation and teaching sessions.
• Analysing assessments.
• Supporting individuals to complete assessments.
• Supporting the development of nursing staff through a culture of learning, feedback and reflection, the importance of role modelling, facilitating critical reflection.
• Contributing to patient care through promoting CPD and encouraging staff to remain up to date and safe & effective in their practice.
• Maximising opportunities for practice placements to facilitate student & staff learning.
• Support the development of a young workforce, through involvement in schools and careers events, work experience, modern apprenticeships and HEI events.
