Summary

I am a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant currently working within a therapeutic secondary school supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. My practice is grounded in trauma-informed approaches, with a strong focus on emotional regulation, relational safety and holistic development.

I have extensive experience supporting young people who present with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, attachment difficulties and complex behavioural needs. I am skilled in building trusting, consistent relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries, and I am committed to being a calm, safe and regulated adult for vulnerable learners. I use co-regulation strategies, active listening and low-arousal de-escalation techniques to support young people through moments of distress and to foster positive engagement.

In my current role, I work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to EHCP outcomes, safeguarding processes and therapeutic planning through detailed observation and reflection. I adapt activities to meet individual emotional, sensory and developmental needs, recognising that progress is often non-linear and measured through increased confidence, self-regulation and wellbeing rather than academic outcomes alone.

I am particularly motivated by practical approaches to learning and strongly value the therapeutic benefits of outdoor and sensory-rich environments. My experience supporting transferable life skills, independence and emotional resilience enables me to confidently transition into a Learning Mentor role within a therapeutic farm setting. I bring a compassionate, reflective and adaptable approach and am committed to supporting young people to develop self-esteem, resilience and positive pathways for the future.
