Responsibilities and Skills:

• Meeting regularly with students in my tutor group as their SEND champion where we discuss their strengths, weaknesses and aspirations in order to set targets to help them meet their academic goals. This is followed by liaising with parents and the Student Support department.
• Teaching exciting and engaging lessons in Science for Year 7 to Year 13 and when the needs of the school demand, other subjects.
• Aware of the importance of reflective practice by evaluating and improving upon my delivered activities.
• Holding QTS status.
• Consistently meeting deadlines with marking and administrative tasks in a high pressure environment.
• A proven track record throughout my career of helping students reach their academic targets as well as departmental targets and Continuing Professional Development targets.
• Supporting learners from a wide variety of different backgrounds and abilities: Gypsy/Roma backgrounds, Pupil Premium, EAL, young carers and children who are in care, a variety of SEND, FSM and BAME backgrounds.

Responsibilities and Skills:

• Teaching Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Games to Years 5 to 8.
• Prioritising pupil progress and engagement.
• Planning outstanding and exciting lessons that bring science to life, encouraging students to think outside the classroom and approach life with an inquiring mind.
• Planning trips and enrichment activities.
• Championing digital learning and keeping up to date with new and innovative ideas in the classroom.

Achievements:

• I created and established an annual Outreach programme in 2019, whereby students from local Junior Schools are invited on site each year to experience practicals and participate in live experiments. The programme primarily targets under-represented demographics in Science, such as female students, SEND students and students who are recognised as Pupil Premium. This programme has increased in scale every year and the scheme has now expanded to include other subject disciplines within the school.

Responsibilities and Skills:

• Having 'Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead' status in school, having successfully completed the training.
• Planning and delivering exciting and enriching activities, including day activities and school trips.
• Building a quick rapport and strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure personal and academic growth of students.
• Managing the boarding house at Wellington College Prep, ensuring that it is running effectively and successfully in line with the ethos of the school.
• Creating an inviting and safe environment for 80+ boarders to ensure they feel welcome and cared for in an environment that promotes kindness and respect.
• Liaising with multiple different internal departments. I possess excellent communication skills as well as a friendly, approachable and professional manner with my colleagues.
• Being adaptable, flexible and a proactive problem solver.

Achievements

• Hosted and co-planned a Boarding Schools' Association Conference in December 2024, delivering a talk on mentorship.
• Promoted from Assistant Head of Boarding to Head of Boarding after 1 year.
• Increased boarding numbers at the school.
• Requested to attend the 2 day 'Mental Health First Aider' course, which I successfully completed.
• Requested to attend the 'Foundational Coaching' course run by Wellington College, which I successfully completed.
• Consistently receiving positive feedback from the Senior Leadership Team, boarders and parents.

Responsibilities and Skills:

• Teaching Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
• Writing and implementing a new scheme of work for Biology.
• Coordinating administrative aspects of AQA Biology.
• Acting as a form tutor.
• Effective communication internally with colleagues in a variety of different departments, and externally with parents and stakeholders.
• Responsible for monitoring student data and accountable for successful outcomes up to GCSE level.
• Acting as a mentor for NQT students.

Achievements:

• My appointment as Head of Biology in 2015.
• Assisted in planning and running a Science trip to Florida for Year 10.
• Helped to organise and participate in a charity trip to Ghana for a group of Year 10 students.
• Spoke in my NQT year at a 'Teachers for Teachers' event in order to share good practice with other professionals in the local area.
