Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Meeting regularly with students in my tutor group as their SEND champion where we discuss their strengths, weaknesses and aspirations in order to set targets to help them meet their academic goals. This is followed by liaising with parents and the Student Support department.
  • Teaching exciting and engaging lessons in Science for Year 7 to Year 13 and when the needs of the school demand, other subjects.
  • Aware of the importance of reflective practice by evaluating and improving upon my delivered activities.
  • Holding QTS status.
  • Consistently meeting deadlines with marking and administrative tasks in a high pressure environment.

Achievements:

  • I created and established an annual Outreach programme in 2019, whereby students from local Junior Schools are invited on site each year to experience practicals and participate in live experiments. The programme primarily targets under-represented demographics in Science, such as female students, SEND students and students who are recognised as Pupil Premium. This programme has increased in scale every year and the scheme has now expanded to include other subject disciplines within the school.

  • Promoted from Assistant Head of Boarding to Head of Boarding after 1 year.

  • Requested to attend the 2 day 'Mental Health First Aider' course, which I successfully completed.
  • Requested to attend the 'Foundational Coaching' course run by Wellington College, which I successfully completed.
  • Consistently receiving positive feedback from the Senior Leadership Team, boarders and parents.
