Work within the Children in Care team, specialising in the care of Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)

• Undertaking comprehensive review health assessments for UASC, ensuring a holistic approach to physical and emotional health.
• Acting in accordance with current local and national guidelines and policies to safeguard young people.
• Planning and delivering health promotion interventions on an individual basis and within group settings, tailored to the specific needs, cultural backgrounds, and understanding of UASC.
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams to ensure coordinated, child-centred care.
• Advocating for the health and well-being of UASC, supporting access to appropriate services and promoting engagement with healthcare provision.

Responsible for the daily operation of a 24-bedded ward providing medical and surgical care to Paediatric patients.

• Providing clinical leadership of shifts, overseeing the coordination of care to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality service delivery.
  
• Supporting and supervising junior staff and students, and contributing to their development through teaching, mentoring, and appraisal.
  
• Supporting the team when managing acutely unwell children, escalating concerns appropriately, and liaising closely with medical staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  
• Acting as a key point of contact for families. Maintaining a strong focus on family-centred care, supporting children and their families through admission, treatment, and discharge.
  
• Ensured high standards of clinical practice, patient safety, and family-centred care in line with NHS policies and governance requirements.

Responsible for coordinating care for a group of paediatric patients on a 24 bedded general medical/surgical ward. Providing emergency and planned care for oncology patients as a level 3 Shared Care Unit.

• Delivered high-quality, evidence-based nursing care through comprehensive assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation in partnership with children, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  
• Supported children, young people and their families throughout admission, treatment, and discharge, maintaining a strong focus on family-centred care.
  
• Worked in line with safeguarding procedures, infection prevention and control standards, and maintained accurate documentation.
  
• Contributed to the support and supervision of student nurses and newly qualified staff while continuing professional development in line with NMC requirements.

Provided care on a Paediatric Assessment Unit for patients 0-16 years old.

• Responsible for undertaking initial assessments, identifying medical needs and escalating to the medical team.
• Commencing medical care and administering medications based on clinical policies and guidance.
• Educating patients and families to improve understanding of illnesses.
