I am a compassionate and dedicated health professional with strong clinical knowledge and excellent patient care and management skills. My initial passion developed as a support worker in the community and my ambition lead me to study adult nursing at university. I fully qualified as a staff nurse on a respiratory ward shortly after the start of Covid, which propelled me into an extremely high pressure environment, making crucial decisions with little support. I developed many key attributes working within a driven team during these times, which I feel have shaped me into a confident and skilled nurse.
I have demonstrated these abilities in my current role as a respiratory nurse specialist and have built a strong rapport with consultants, nurses, physios and GPs throughout a multidisciplinary team.
I am dedicated to providing the highest standard of care and look forward to any future opportunities to do so.
''We have just had a consultation with Nurse Laura Thompson from the specialist respiratory team who attended AFU. She was absolutely brilliant with my mother in law. Her input has completely changed our understanding of what was wrong, which has affected both mum in law and my wife. We were always told the issue was COPD. We now know it was much more probably asthma which can be treated with success. Laura's whole approach with us was lovely and very professional. We have told her how happy we are personally but feel that formal recognition by the trust is merited.''
