At present I am working as Deputy Manager at a 52 bedded Nursing Home. My roles include managing the Home in the managers absence, carrying out audits, completing the nurses rota, reviewing and writing resident care plans and risk assessments, potential;/new resident assessments, carrying out CQC notifications and safeguarding. I carry out resident dependency score, take part in funding reviews and work closely with the Care Homes Team and the local GP's.

I mange and support a team of eight nurses, ensuring that there training is update, booking training, carrying out assessment competencies and mentoring new member of staff and students.

I am the medication lead which involves ordering the monthly medications and carrying out the monthly medications changeover. I carry out medication audits, including control medications, train staff and carry out medication competencies yearly for all staff who administer medications. I have completed the Palliative care course and was voted Nurse of the Year but came second place.

Experience in carrying out supervisions with members of the nursing and care team. Due to managing a team, I have experience with facilitating conflict resolution among employees, helping to promote a harmonious work environment.

I helped manage a 30 bed Nursing Home caring for residents with Dementia and Palliative care. I managed the Home in the Manager absence, assessed residents, carried out care plans and risk assessments. I managed the Nursing rota and booked agency when required. One of my main roles included ordering and managing the monthly medications. I supported the Home manager with day to day tasks and help them achieve organisation goals.

I worked closely and supported Senior Carers and managed daily shifts.

Clinical skills include venepuncture, catheterisation, syringe driver, S/C and IM injections, dressings, pressure bandaging, medication administration and death verification.

I was involved with HR in investigations into staff conduct and sickness reviews.

I have experience of using the Boots medication system, Atlas Central and paper MAR charts. I have experience of using Nourish documentation system and hand written documentation and care plans.

I managed the drug trials involving new cancer treatments, including chemotherapy. This role included cannulation, venepuncture, chemotherapy administration, carrying out ECG's, processing and shipping samples, including blood and tissue samples. IM and S/C injections.

I met recruitment targets in breast and head and neck cancer trials. I attended meetings MDT with a number of professionals at different hospitals and different countries.

I learnt how to work to guidelines, following trial protocols and met recruitment targets.

I was the basic life support trainer and carried out training for new staff and yearly updates. I also taught cannulation and venepuncture.

This role involved administering chemotherapy to patients with a wide range over cancers. I carried out new patient interviews which helped me to develop excellent interpersonal skills, developing strong relations with patients, their families and my colleagues .

As a band 6 I had the responsibility of checking patients blood results and authorising chemotherapy based on the results.

I carried out infection control audits. I was the basic life support link and trainer.

Carried out nurse lead clinics for chemotherapy patients and help support the out patient department by checking blood results, scans and booking appointments. I worked closely with Specialist Nurse in supporting patients.

Skills learnt include, cannulation, venepuncture, PICC lines, Port-A-Cath lines, organisational skills when in charge of the unit and developed confidence when talking to groups of people. I enhanced teaching skills being the basic life support, cannulation and venepuncture link.

Promoted from a Band 5 to a Band 6. Learnt how to care for the critically patient. Developed confidence in emergency situations and the importance of time management. Improved communication skills and learnt how to work as part of a team. Completed the critical care course.

I developed a number of clinical skills including, ventilation, catheterisation, tracheotomy care, stoma care, post operative patient management and venepuncture.

I left to move back to Nottingham

Newly qualified staff nurse ward P3/P4, specialist Haematology unit. I developed skills in how to care for the critically and acutely ill patient. My role included medication administration, chemotherapy administration, carrying out observations along with timed observations, completed input and out put charts, writing and updating care plans, patient admission and discharges. I cared for patients having chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, blood and platelet transfusions. I learnt how to work as part of a team and with members of other specialists,

I cared for patients having end of life care and developed supportive relationships with patients and their families.
