My desire to study law stems from my interest in human rights and social justice. Through my studies I have learned that law is fundamentally crucial for civilisation to function.
I had the opportunity to experience practicing law first hand during my work experience with Maguire Solicitors of Glasgow. Enduring the workings of the court and a legal practice gave me a great insight into the profession. I attended a trial at the Sheriff Court of Glasgow, where I shadowed my mentor. During my time at the office I learned to put together Legal Aid Files and provided research on human rights violations in Palestine, Syria, Egypt and Somalia which was used by the solicitors. My knowledge of the different areas of law was enhanced by working on an Employment Law case which was coming up for trail. This experience gave me a valuable insight into the day to day workings of solicitors.
As part of being a member of the Law Clinic at Caledonian University, I am developing my communication skills by taking part in an online sign language course. The law clinic partners with solicitors in Glasgow to aid in cases and gain experience from professionals to widen our knowledge.
I am keen to continue my development in my chosen profession by working with solicitors and firms in Glasgow.
