Laila Spruce

Whilst volunteering at Ash Green I was able to have hands on experience in a nursery setting to help me develop my skillset and widen the opportunities for my future. During my time at Ash Green I met my course goals for college and achieved good marks in exams while completing assignments and course work, to add to this I also applied my knowledge to help others around me understand the course material that I am completing to provide awareness of the things I will be completing for college within the classroom. In addition, my time at Ash Green allowed me to develop confidence in the classroom and achieve personal goals which then led to me gaining a valuable understanding which helped me shape my future professional goals during the time where I chose my next steps for after college. Lastly, I managed my time effectively to balance academic responsibilities which then increased my commitment to the job as I grew a large amount of passion for working alongside the people around me and for seeing the children blossom.

During this role it allowed me to develop a strong sense of reliability as it was my role to ensure customer satisfaction by providing efficient and friendly service, this then led to me developing my multi-tasking skills as there were a lot of things to keep track of whilst maintaining my professionalism. In addition, throughout my time at the Maypole Inn I also created a friendly, welcoming atmosphere to encourage positive guest experiences which then increased profitability. I thoroughly enjoyed this job as I was able to have a lot of laughs with the customers whilst creating lots of new bonds with my colleagues, there was never a time where there was no question unanswered, or a time where someone was displeased; I always made sure that everyone was satisfied with their food and drinks whilst creating a lovely experience for them and myself.
