Places For People
Grimsby, N.E.lincolshire
11.2019 - 05.2021

Manage an extra care unit in Grimsby for residents with mental health issues, physical disabilities, learning disabilities and elderly.

My main duties are to ensure residents are safe and well, I do this by having great communication skills with not only residents but their friends and family to ensure they are receiving high levels of care. I work closely with support services such as:

support assistants

social services

carers

police officers

mental health professionals.

Due to covid-19 these relationships have had to be made via telephone and email to ensure safety of all involved.

Complete reports on all residents and complete care plans for each individual, updating them continuously. Complete fire risk assessments on each individual, also on the building.

Work closely with north east Lincolnshire housing department to ensure all residents have applied for appropriate benefits so they do not fall into arrears with their tenancy.

To ensure this is all done to high standards, I make sure I have great verbal and written communication skills. I work on many different computer systems and pick them up easily.

I am aware of the current covid-19 guidelines as I have had to enforce rules in the extra care unit, whilst supporting residents and their families in this hard time. Support and reassure individuals with learning difficulties who do not quite understand what is going on. However, I have listened to them and their concerns and had many discussions to ensure they feel safe and supported.

As part of my role I also look after maintenance of the building and all fire safety.

  • Consistently ensured resident satisfaction, addressing concerns and promptly following up on maintenance requests.
  • Liaised with neighbourhood nuisance team to minimise and resolve nuisance issues.
  • I am a trained fire marshal level 3 and do health and safety audits every week.
  • Oversaw building maintenance and tenant repairs, logging all repair requirements to contractors to ensure rapid follow-up.
