I am currently the Unit Manager at Whatley Quarry, the largest limestone quarry within the United Kingdom, which produces 5.5 million tonnes per annum.
Whatley Quarry is a 24/5 hour site which has 95 direct employees working alongside an additional 25 contractors, all of which play an integral part in achieving our goals set out. We deliver approximately 4 million tonnes of premium aggregate by rail each year supplying major UK based project such as HS2 as well as the Hinckley Point nuclear reactor.
My main responsibilities consist of:
- Implementing robust health and safety systems.
- Personnel management including carrying out personal reviews and goal setting.
- Planning and controlling site budgets whilst identifying cost reduction measures.
- Ensuring excellent customer service.
- Geotechnical/Mine planning.
- Production forecasting and planning.
- Reviewing KPI's and driving efficiencies.
I'm a highly motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic individual with 9 years of experience within the industry. Within this time I have gained various qualifications including a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mineral Management where I achieved a 2:1.
