I worked here for a total of 320 hours over eight weeks for work Placement, as required by my T-Level Qualification. I worked throughout two shutdowns each lasting a total of two weeks and four weeks while the factory was up and running. I was required to do tasks which required knowledge, skills and experience using hand tools and power tools. I was also required to work in a number of different areas such as confined spaces and at height where I was required to have knowledge of basic and common knowledge of legislation and standards which meant I was able to adhere to PPE requirements and complete the tasks safely, quickly and efficiently.
Whilst Employed at Lidl I have worked at both the Morecambe store, where I was trained and the Lancaster store. I Underwent extensive training in which I learnt skills from team work, problem solving, Emotional Intelligence, Creativity, Time keeping and Communication Skills. Examples of this would be that we were required to work stock, clean the store, jump on tills and sometimes Bake food all while maintaining a positive attitude.
I mainly worked in the café front of house and occasionally in the indoor play area called ‘The Playbarn where I built up my customer service skills. I was responsible for taking orders either digitally or on paper, serving customers at the till, making and preparing food and drink then distributing it to the required tables all while maintaining good customer satisfaction and sticking to a positive attitude. General maintenance and keeping things clean and restocked was also a major factor within the job and required us to use our common sense and problem solving skills.
I have almost five years work experience gaining and using a multitude of different skills and experiences as I got a job on my 14th birthday in April 2019 at the refreshment room café on Carnforth railway station. I was required to clean, help and customer query's prepare food and drink and distribute it to the required tables. Due to the cafe appearing in the movie "A Brief Encounter" I was required to do research and prepare myself for any questions tourists and customers may have about the station and its heritage. This in turn was my first experience within the working world and it encouraged me to be hard working and positive in order to maintain a happy, approachable character throughout my past five years.
