Work history

Student

Surrey University
Guildford, Surrey
2022.09 - Current

As a final-year student on this course, I have been taking modules associated with this company. This includes.

Digital communications: This module covers the three key processing stages of modern digital communication systems: source coding for signal compression, channel error-control coding for robust transmission, and modulation for an efficient digital interface with the available channel.

The specific objectives of the module are:

  • To show by argument, mathematical analysis, and block diagrams, how information can be represented and transmitted in digital domain.
  • To analyze mathematically common problems related to the basic building blocks of a digital communication system.
  • To learn about commonly used source codecs (including source coding standards), channel codecs, and data modems, and their use in practical systems.
  • To perform important calculations related to the design of digital communication systems and make design choices/decisions.

The other Module being, Data & Internet Networking:

  • The module provides an in-depth treatment of current and evolving Internet protocols and standards, and the algorithms that underlie them.

Field Intern

Arqiva LTD.
Winchester, Hampshire
2024.09 - 2025.09

Working for Arqiva was an intense but rewarding experience. During my internship I:

  • Supported the team by demonstrating respect and willingness to learn.
  • Helped the team complete multiple diagnostic tests with antennas in the bay, prevented multiple service outages, completed overnight work with a mentor present, and took initiative to learn and research most of the equipment at Arqiva.
  • During my time, I have helped my team members complete planned works at both Crawley Court, Morn Hill and Chalfont.
  • During my time on the 3rd line team, I updated and maintained many documents and CAD drawings using Meridian and Microsoft Visio.
  • Sought to develop my skills by learning the intercultural systems in Arqiva.
  • Participated when there were heavy talks on improvements regarding processes and procedures.
  • Supervise the delivery of 3rd party suppliers and contractors to ensure that specifications and standards meet Arqiva requirements. I.e., the Green for stream project within the 3rd line.

During this time, I gained valuable skills, Knowledge and Experience in:

  • Satellite transmission. I.e., the knowledge and skill regarding fixing, replacing and diagnosing a particular fault within the RF transmission pipeline.
  • An understanding of RF
  • The software Data Miner
  • Computer networks
  • Level 1 qualification in Health and Safety and Level 1 principles in fire safety and First Aid.
  • A deep understanding of signal analysis, Digital TV transmission, Signal contribution and Distribution and Telemetry Monitoring
  • About to graduate from a Broadcast engineering course
  • Am Confident and proficient with processes, standards and engineering
  • Am on a needs basis, working away from home will be required
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of systems and equipment relevant to the role, such as RF systems, Digital Television, and Analogue practices related to corrective and preventative maintenance
  • Takes ownership of own personal development to support business-led opportunities
  • Always Keen on exploring new emerging technologies

Creative Producer

Stag TV
Guildford, Surrey
2023.09 - 2024.06
  • I am currently a creative producer for Stag TV, a student-led society. The tasks in this role vary from script writing to filming and editing. From operating the studio cameras (AK-UC3000G) to prototyping scenes in blender, script writing, camera operating, image editing (using photoshop), editing and mixing, this role incorporates everything I've learned while studying at Surrey University.

After Effect

University of Surrey
2024.03 - 2024.05
  • I completed a module in After Effects. This module focused extensively on After Effects tools and how to use them. For instance, I learnt to: Animate, Precomposing, Text manipulation and animation, Rotoscoping, Motion tracking, And much more. I used what I learned in this module to create a little sequence for my project.

Colour grading

University of Surrey
2024.01 - 2024.01
  • I completed a two-day workshop on colour grading using DaVinci Resolve. In the workshop, I learned how to effectively grade a wide range of video footage and learn the ins and outs of DaVinci Resolve. This workshop helped me increase my efficiency when shooting my short film, as I knew exactly how to light the scene ready for colour grading.

Camera Operator

The Sheldonian Theatre
Guildford, Surrey
2023.03 - 2023.03
  • A one-day work experience for students, where students recorded a live 2-hour professional orchestra. We worked with four cameras: two Sony FS5, A Sony FX3, and a Panasonic GH5. We spent 3 hours setting up and checking each camera. We checked and standardised the white balance, shutter speed, Iso and more on all cameras. 2 more hours were spent running through the shots while the orchestra prepared. We shot the orchestra at 7 pm.

Camera Operator

First Love London
2022.07 - 2022.09
  • First Love London is a Pentecostal church in south London. During my experience, I learnt how to rig and de-rig two types of cameras, the Panasonic AU EVA1 and a 2 Sony camera. I would check the white balance and stagger through the shot list for that Sunday's service. I usually solve any technical issues with those cameras. We always worked as a team, which meant I needed excellent communication skills to effectively communicate the technical requirements each camera must undergo before the start of service. Sometimes, we would have workers unfamiliar with camera operating, so I would usually guide them through the role.
