Personal Statement
With over 15 years of dedicated experience supporting students and pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) requirements, I am a passionate and highly skilled educational professional. My career has been driven by a commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
I bring a comprehensive skill set that includes extensive safeguarding training, adult and child first aid certification, and Team Tech Restraint training, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. As an Educational Visit Lead (EVL), I have successfully coordinated enriching off-site learning experiences, emphasizing both educational value and student safety.
Throughout my career, I have developed and implemented effective SEN strategies tailored to support students with a wide range of complex needs. My expertise in behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies has enabled me to create calm and nurturing classroom environments that promote positive behavioural outcomes.
In addition to my hands-on experience, I have a deep understanding of SEN and SEMH programme compliance and have worked collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure these programmes are effectively executed. My proficiency with office IT software has supported attendance tracking and improvement plans, helping to enhance student engagement and success.
I am a strong collaborator with a proven ability to build excellent rapport with students, fostering trust and motivation. My public speaking skills and background in music instruction further enhance my ability to engage and inspire learners.
I am passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and am eager to continue leveraging my extensive experience to support the growth and development of SEN and SEMH students in a dynamic educational setting.
James Brindley Academy are a leading voice within Birmingham in regards to safeguarding and management of young people with a wide variety of diagnosese. During my time here I have been heavily involved with the pastoral care of young people, taking on a specialised key worker role for multiple pupils on a yearly basis. Whilst at Bournville College I worked as Learning Support Assistant with their pre-vocational 14-16 alternative provision. During my time I worked with pupils that presented with a range of barriers to their learning, such as behavioural issues, trauma, SEN and SEMH related conditions.
