Summary

Having joined the police straight out of College, I didn't really discover my love of travelling until I took a 7 week trip to China, Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia in 2012. I was truly bitten by the travel bug and spent the next 10 years travelling as often and as extensively as I could, visiting 40 countries across 6 continents before deciding to move full time into the travel industry in 2022.

This move has allowed me to develop a greater understanding of the travel industry and the ‘under the surface' detail and knowledge required when putting together a clients itinerary. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my love of travel with clients and injecting their travel plans with excitement and unique experiences. My desire to learn about what can be seen and done in other countries, even those I don't yet have plans to visit, and my strong research skills have led me to become knowledgeable about a wide range of destinations

Police Officer

Stroud, Gloucestershire
04.2006 - 04.2022

Carried out 9 years as a frontline police officer, including several periods as a Temporary Police Sergeant, during which time I:

  • Responded quickly to emergency situations, leading calm and effective negotiations with suspects to diffuse highly charged situations.
  • Aided investigations through strategic interviewing and statement taking of victims, suspects, witnesses and informants.
  • Controlled front-line responses and investigations through resource allocation, supervision and risk management.
  • Maintained calm under pressure in emergency response and handling, aiding desired outcomes.
  • Directed staff on assigned shifts and reviewed completed shift activities and incidents with employees.
  • Motivated and encouraged team members to enable effective front-line policing service, ensuring welfare and disciplinary matters were dealt with sensitively and expeditiously

Following this I worked for 6 years in the Serious and Organised Crime Unit dealing with high value burglaries, county line drug supply and gang crime. During this time I:

  • Assessed threat, harm and risk from intelligence reports and selected management or dissemination options.
  • Planned and implemented criminal investigations to solve assigned cases.
  • Monitored and followed suspects to gather evidence for investigations, selecting tactics most suited to the task
  • Ran live-time operations utilising multiple computer systems to assess information coming in, provide information back to officers and ensure every opportunity was taken to secure evidence and prevent criminality
  • Acquired and served warrants for arrests, searches, surveillance or other purposes.
  • Organised and co-ordinated large scale operations, involving up to 80 officers, to arrest suspects and conduct searches.
  • Harnessed deductive reasoning and analysis to make informed decisions and conclusions.
  • Used interpersonal skills to interview suspects and garner necessary information.
  • Secured charges against suspected criminals, gaining desired outcomes for victims and communities.
  • Liaised with prosecution partners to manage processes around court proceedings.
  • Prepared thorough, accurate case files, with meticulous attention to detail, supporting investigations and facilitating arrests.
  • Testified in courts to support case evidence and findings and secure convictions for suspects.
  • Kept sensitive intelligence safe and secure from unauthorised access and maintained strict confidentiality through careful and correct storage of case documents, in line with internal policies.

As a result of my investigations in the Organised Crime Unit I received several commendations, including the rarely awarded Judge's Commendation, with my work being described as being “beyond the high standard already demanded“
