I am a positive, approachable, patient individual that can offer a range of different skills which I have gained over the years through the different volunteer and and non volunteer roles that I have done. I have strong communication skills and work well as a team or as an individual to complete tasks, my background means that I am able to collaborate affectively both internally and externally. I am passionate about supporting individuals, to grown and develop. Watching a child achieve something they have been working hard or trying something new for me is extremely rewarding and I feel that the skills that I have can support that passion in this setting. Adapting to a situation is something that has been present in all of my roles because situations change and need reaction.
My role here is a very diverse role which has many different aspects. I am responsible for planning unit meetings that are creative and engaging that are in line in line with the girl guiding curriculum in order for the girls to achieve badges and awards and monitoring their progress as part of a team. Send out communications with parents, maintain up to date records. Ensure that everything is inline with the unit budget. Work as part of a team to take girls on both day trips and residential trips. During this role I need to be aware of each individual child and their needs so that I am able to support them in achieving and developing key life skills. Girl Guiding believes that the girls should have a say and some activities should be girl lead meaning that you are helping them develop leadership skills and important life skills.
Due to the nature of this role it is important to have an in depth understanding of safeguarding and policies and procedures of girl guiding to ensure the safety of the girls and other leaders as well as have an enhanced DBS check. It is also important to carry out risk assessments for activities, trips and pack holidays.
As a trainee chef I had many different roles and responsibilities which increased quickly throughout my time here. I assisted the chef in the preparation of a variety of dishes, ensuring both the quality of each plate and the aesthetics of each plate was of the highest standard ensuring customer satisfaction. I learnt specialised skills such as pasta making, knife skills and preparing and cooking difficult dishes such as fish. I was able to demonstrate excellent teamwork abilities whilst working alongside other chefs and spent a lot of time in services working on the starters section, preparing orders as well as garnishing the main plates. This is and extremely fast paced environment which needed acute attention to detail of what the order was as well as when a main dish needed garnishing. I ran this section on several occasions when other chefs where off. All whilst keeping the highest standards of hygiene.
