Work history

Lower Darwen, Blackburn with Darwen
2020.03 - Current

Following a further organizational restructure my role was changed to solely H&S focused but my remit extended out of the energy business to include all operational functions in the North ranging from Doncaster to Inverness. I have a team of 4 H&S Advisors and the general functions of the role are more diverse to support the business units in sustaining high levels of compliance.

A large focus is to problem solve on issues raised by employees and managers e.g. Changes in practices, procedures, introduction of new control measures or equipment, changes in work equipment, process or vehicle design or designing out issues.

Whilst cooperating with other functions in the business such as HR, Technical, EIR or compliance auditors to collaborate and share best practice.

Keeping abreast of changes within the industry, particularly relating to regulated activities and associated ISO standards ensuring risks to the health safety and welfare of employees to be as low as is reasonably practicable.

To prohibit any works where the risk of serious or imminent personal injury exists or where the continuation of the activity would result in a clear serious breach of statutory legislation.

Ensure continuity, engagement and promotion of the Safety in Mind programme which is embedded across the organisation.
