Kieran Sim

My position at SRS was a unique experience with a focus on lone working where I was solely responsible for upkeeping standards and representing the organisation in the community. I was fortunate during my time there to work with a lot of local charities and build relationships, especially Create, and through these relationships I got insights into the accounting and payroll done at the charity through Sage financial software and the tight work that is done at charities to balance regulations of Government grants and the day to day cash needs of the business.

I began working at Cornerstone as a support worker and was fortunate to experience a corporate restructuring whilst there which came with many new responsibilities for myself and gave me an insight not only into how corporate restructuring happens but also how it affects employees across multiple levels in the business.

The branch I worked at was a home for challenging adults with learning disabilities and over time my role developed from working closely with clients to managing shift patterns and liaising with various professionals to assure a cohesive and fulfilling care plan catered to each individual client. This gave me a unique opportunity to hone my communication skills as my duties included collating care plans; working closely with various medical professionals and communicating these structures and defending their merit across many levels from the clients, to co-workers, and to corporate whilst maintaining professional relationships.
