Work history

Over-establishment Section Planner

Network rail
Ashford, Kent
2024.07 - 2026.03
  • In my role as an Over-establishment Section Planner, I have had to adapt and learn fast. My day to day differs every day, where I do not belong to one dedicated team and aid all departments in the Southeast region.
  • I pride myself on my ability to adapt to difference situations and keep the same level of consistency, skill and attention to detail to whatever task I am doing, like one day I’ll be looking after lineblock for the RME department and the next day I could be generating and closing work orders for S&T, the next I might to stepping to a planners shoes for an extended period. Which has given me ample experience working with various planning system from Railhub, Ellipse, RDMS, PPS, IWOC and multiple cross-departmental excel workbooks.
  • When I do cover a planner, whether on leave or away for extended periods, I absorb their role completely and maintain the standard and expectation they and the rest of the team expect. Including chairing weekly PDR meetings, PIC chats with the on-track team leaders and any other requirements the section manager or supervisor might have to ensure normal level of production can carry on, and to meet whatever deadlines they might have. Also I help ensure that there is a seamless transition upon the planner's return. However, I am not afraid to offer my opinion if I think a process or task could be improve upon.
  • The last 6 months I have been supporting the RME department, which consists of both Rail testing and Lubrication and Welding and Grinding. I have taken on a more mixed role where I support either of the maintenance disciples and their planner with any tasks they need, such as updating and logging defects in the RDMS system, updating Tef forms and producing work packs for the on-track teams, managing, creating and improving various administrative tools.
  • I also took over the planning duties for the Ashford Tech team as their Section planner in September 2025. The Tech team differ from other department with their staff predominantly working nights and not having an unconventional team structure, lacking any supervisors or mangers and reporting directly to the track engineers and not having section planner for 5 years, so I had to we quickly had to establish clear communication and what expectation were as they work differently to any other team I had worked for. But now work well together and the system put in place to manage their admin is whole my own.
  • During my time here, I have worked will all the major disciplines with the South Eastern DUs, finding myself in the unique position of being able to use the knowledge I have gained from one discipline to solve issues I come across while covering another; and has given me a broader railway geography than if I just worked within one discipline.

Transport Coordinator

AmerisourceBergen World Courier Ground
Lympne
2020.03 - 2024.06
  • World Courier Ground is responsible for all ground shipment in Europe that go via road for the World Courier group. I worked as part of a small, dedicated team of 6 of in the Lympne office, with an additional 30 drivers on our staff.
  • I looked after the day-to-day operations of two thirds of the fleet. My main responsibilities were to send out all instructions to the drivers, monitor them and the vehicle and address any problem that may arise during pick-up, delivery or in transit. Clear and concise communication was needed as i had to speak with other offices based all over the world, from the US to Hong Kong and anywhere in between. Communication could be in the form of phone calls, teams' messages and email.
  • From when a driver is given a job, it is my responsibility to make sure they acknowledge their instructions, answer any question they might have, and if I cannot answer the question straight way, to find the answer in a timely manner.
  • Not long after i joined in 2019, the COVID 19 pandemic happened, and the first lock down was enacted. As an office, we had to adapt as Work from Home was put in place. The challenge of learning a new job and adjusting to a new working environment was a tough learning experience, but I was able to grow into my role with help from the team around me.
  • In addition to looking after the drivers, I also took care of the back-end admin that comes with every job we did. As we mainly moved pharmaceutical products, not only are our loads highly valuable, but they are also incredibly time sensitive, often meaning data relating to the shipment needed to be uploaded into our systems as soon as delivery was made, so that the drugs could be released and administered to the patient. This has helped my time management and my ability to highlight priority transport that will need an extra level of care.
  • Over the years my role grew to encompass more of the planning side of the job. I would assist my manger with planning pick-ups on our vans, looking for the best place to put jobs that will best utilise our vans and cut out as much dead mileage as we can. New shipment requests would come in constantly throughout the day and each time we would need to find the best place for it, which could mean reorganizing part of the plan to accommodate it. The constant evolution of the plan, plus any unforeseen issues such as mechanical issues with vehicles; my problem solving skills constantly being test and improving.

Carrier Account Representative

Coyote Logistics
2017.02 - 2020.02
  • When I joined Freighttex, I was part of a 15-man team. Our main role is to sell our customers freight to hauliers for cost effective and efficient shipment, using a wide variety of communication channels to contact carriers including Skype, email and telecommunications. From this I have learnt different sales techniques and how to multitask, maximizing my time to be most efficient. I was able to assume some leadership roles while supporting my manager, by helping other team members with any issues and by getting quotes from carriers for new upcoming business.
  • In August 2017 Freighttex was bought out by a American company and rebranded as Coyote Logistics. With the rebranding, I was given the opportunity to take on more responsibility and excelled in growing my book of business contacts.
  • In November 2017 I was asked to work on site for one of our customers in Aberdeen for 5 weeks. My colleagues and I were tasked with running the daily operations of the loading site. We would have anywhere between 20 to 40 trucks a day, all with deliveries to various destinations throughout Europe.
  • Also, whilst I was there, I was tasked with organising loads moved from Aberdeen to various locations all over France. This taught me how to work within a small-time frame and how to approach tasks with limited resourcing.
  • In November 2019 I was asked to return to Aberdeen to again help run the site for our customer again for another 5 weeks. This time I was in total control of the site, as my colleague has to focus more on the planning side and had to communicated with varies different department heads with the customer and internally.
  • In 2019 we hired a few new team members, and I enjoyed helping them adjust to the office and supporting them as they grow into their rolls.

Transport Administrator

Heritage International Transport
2015.05 - 2017.02
  • As a Transport Administrator; as part of a 6-man team, running a fleet 60 trucks, my position required sending job details through to hauliers as well as tracking their positions and monitoring their progress. Through these tasks I have become familiar with using data input software and GPS tracking programs. In addition, I regularly liaised with customers, providing updates about our vehicle's transporting their loads. I also sent weekly reports to customers regarding the arrival and departure time of our vehicle's, which allowed me to become skilled in the use of Microsoft Office & Excel.
  • Furthermore, I was responsible for answering calls and queries from customers and drivers, which has improved my problem-solving abilities and enhanced my ability to make decisions in tough situations, especially when taking such calls out of hours.
