I took up the position of electrical site supervisor with MMS after completing another successful project with Roth. This role required me to oversee various different projects throughout the east coast. All the projects I was responsible for were new build housing projects which was something new to me completely. This change required me to adapt the way I had worked previously in order to get the best out of the electricians I had working for me across my sites.
After my time at IDS I was asked to return to Roth Ltd to oversee a project at a new build primary school near Edinburgh. My roles and responsibilities were similar to that in my previous time at the company. I was the main point of contact for the site team and partook in weekly site progress meetings, sat in on client meetings and site walkarounds. I overseen most of the health and safety responsibilities on site to help the site be a safe place for people to work.
Once this project was completed to handover stage, I moved on to my new role with MMS.
During my time at IDS, I was responsible for 3 projects, a ward refurb at a hospital, a substation install on a wind farm and a complex and large scale CCTV and access install.
My time at IDS came to and end as the company's work in the commercial sector had run dry.
At Roth I completed the remainder of my apprenticeship and worked my way from being a qualified electrician to becoming a site supervisor. I worked on a variety of projects for Roth and gained a vast array of experience working for various clients and working in many different situations. The types of jobs varied from office fit outs and refurbs, working in schools both in and out of term, working in live police stations, large care homes and student accommodation jobs.
The first two years of my apprenticeship were spent working at the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Mercury Engineering before the project started coming to an end.
