Working abroad in the United States as a summer camp counsellor with a specialist role in the Yad B’Yad disability inclusion program.

This role involved being a 1:1 counsellor for young people with a variety of special needs including autism and learning disabilities, and also working as a general counsellor.

It was my responsibility as an inclusion specialist to be a caretaker for my 1:1, and make sure they had the best experience possible during their 4-8 week stay, to assist and include them in their chosen hobbies, activities, services, and all other social situations, with the goal of promoting independence and teaching valuable life and social skills.

I was also a counsellor for the oldest age division, being responsible for a cabin of fourteen, along with my other co-counsellors for two sessions.

Assisting children and young people with disabilities and special needs during transport to and from school, after school care, and appointments.

• Safeguarded passenger health and wellbeing with stringent enforcement of safety protocols.
• Monitored child safety in vehicle and around loading zones.

• Supported events to provide safety and wellbeing of attendees.
