Since beginning a Health & Social Care NVQ, I had the aim to commence working in care full time. It's an area of work which appealed to me as I have a passion for helping people.
After working as an End of Life carer in the community now for over a year, I have found many aspects of the job really interesting, including medication and pain monitoring and management for clients. I have been solely and jointly responsible for all pain medications to the clients I work with, including controlled drugs, antibiotics and dosset boxes / blister packs. All of our client's controlled medications are signed off by two carers, this includes: Oral morphine, pain patches, Oxycodone, buprenorphine and fentanyl.
Very often we are unable to source blister packs for clients, this means that all medications must be administered straight from the packs individually. Correctly and very carefully collating medications for clients has become my favourite part of my job. This is something I am known for taking very seriously and am extremely good at.
I am willing to learn and explore work in a variety of different scenario's to build up my experience as I believe being exposed to different situations can only improve how I apply myself in the future with the experiences I gain. I enjoy working as part of a team and am also comfortable carrying out tasks on my own. I'm used to busy environments, working in hospitality during peak hours and ensuring a quality experience for customers.
