Work history

Prefect

Oakgrove school
Milton Keynes, Birmingham
2024.09 - 2026.06

This involved supervising the library and lunch halls during break and lunch times, assisting teachers when required, and supporting younger students throughout the school day. I worked as part of a student support system, helping younger pupils navigate challenges both in and outside of school. Through these responsibilities, I developed confidence in communicating with a wide range of people, learned how to approach unfamiliar situations thoughtfully, and gained experience in offering support and guidance when needed. Other notable responsibilities include regularly attending student meetings to represent student concerns and suggest solutions and ensuring smooth operation during school events such as parent evenings, school trips and sports days.

Outpatients support

NHS Foundation Trust
Milton Keynes, Birmingham
2025.04 - 2025.04

Work experience conducted in outpatients. During my time there I gained valuable insight into a fast-paced healthcare environment while developing a range of transferable skills. I observed emergency wound care and patient bandaging, learned how X-rays are taken and interpreted by doctors, and spent time with a respiratory specialist using a spirometer to assess lung function. I also worked alongside staff in the blood clinic, where I helped reassure and calm patients before and during blood tests. These experiences taught me how to remain calm under pressure, communicate confidently with people of all ages, and adapt quickly while working as part of a professional team.

GP

Milton Keynes, Birmingham
2024.08 - 2024.08

During my work experience at a GP practice, I gained a broad understanding of how different areas work together to provide high-quality patient care. I spent time supporting the reception team, helping with day-to-day administrative tasks and observing how appointments and patient enquiries were managed. In addition, I shadowed consultations, spent time in the diabetes clinic learning about the long-term management of patients, and worked alongside the practice pharmacist to gain an insight into prescribing and medication reviews. Furthermore, I assisted staff during blood tests by helping to reassure anxious patients, allowing me to develop my ability to remain calm, build trust with others, and adapt confidently to a variety of situations.
