Leadership and management

  • Maintains the endocrinology and diabetes registrar rota, organising ward, referral and clinic cover, managing short-notice gaps and balancing service needs with trainee educational requirements.
  • Works closely with consultants and medical staffing to maintain safe, compliant rotas while protecting training opportunities.

Teaching experience

  • Delivered regular small-group teaching for Hull York Medical School (Year 1 weekly and Year 2 alternate weeks), leading to appointment as Honorary Lecturer.
  • Designed, organized and delivered a year-long weekly teaching programme for final-year Cambridge medical students in Renal Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology, and previously taught Year 3 Leicester medical students.
  • Provides ongoing case-based bedside and clinic teaching for junior doctors and allied health professionals during ward rounds and on-call endocrine/diabetes work. Completed Train the Trainer and Teach the Teachers courses.

Audit and quality improvement

  • Audit of annual ACR screening and nephroprotection in adults with type 1 diabetes (2026): retrospective audit at Allam Diabetes Centre, Hull Royal Infirmary, assessing annual ACR screening and ACEi/ARB prescribing against NICE guidance; identified incomplete annual screening and missed nephroprotection opportunities, with recommendations for education, documentation, targeted review and re-audit.
  • Audit of lipid modification therapy and cardiovascular risk assessment in patients with diabetes attending consultant-led clinics (2024): retrospective review of 147 patients identifying gaps in statin prescribing, absent QRISK3 documentation in type 2 diabetes and inadequate documentation of reasons for non-prescription or intolerance.
  • Quality improvement project to redesign and implement a diabetic foot MDT referral proforma and flow-chart online referral system (2022): introduced a new electronic referral with mandatory questions, improving documentation, primary team assessment and MDT triage efficiency.
