I am a hardworking, conscientious and enthusiastic young man seeking a role within thoroughbred horse racing industry. I have ridden competitively since a young age to now working internationally within the Thoroughbred racing industry. Over the years I have developed effective time management skills as well as a great understanding of responsibility. I enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and I get great satisfaction in meeting targets. I am a firm believer in life long learning and love to travel. My lifelong dream is to obtain a degree, compete horses low level as a hobby and eventually, given the opportunity operate my own bloodstock training organisation. I am a keen sportsman and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. I have ridden internationally as a result from my passion to travel. I have self produced horses of my own and I would thrive at the opportunity to expand my skills set across the globe. I have a full clean drivers licence.
My position at the practice entailed a varied workload which included assisting veterinary specialist at client facilities with radiographs and lameness work ups, assisting medical and surgical procedures. and full training of performing adjunctive therapies under veterinary instruction.
Outside of practice duties I would attend all Tattersales sales events, including Doncaster Premier Sales and Ascot in assistance with veterinary specialists to carry out radiograph imagery and handling Bloodstock for pre and post sale investigations.
During my time at the practice I obtained a level 3 Diploma in work based Racehorse Care and Management in preparation of pursuing a degree.
Ridden Thoroughbred racehorses in daily training and exercise regimes to maintain optimal equine health, fitness and wellbeing in preparation of competition.
A full time position which specifically revolved around youngsters, responsibilities included lunging, long-reining, laying across to then riding the youngsters away, preparing them for their early stages of training. I would carry out day to day yard duties as well as having the opportunity to travel and attend Bloodstock sales.
During my full time position at GWR I would ride 15-20 horses each morning which would include breezing horses daily, furthermore, I was fortunate enough to participate in weekly barrier jump out trials, schooling youngsters over obstacles and attending race/trial meetings
With regards to care of the horses in the evenings my responsibilities would range from Swimming horse, assisting with breaking yearlings, limb management such as inspection, bandaging and applying medical treatments, and assisting horses for the vets/farriers, photographers and owner visits.
Introduced to James Fanshawe after completing the 8 week residential continue to work towards completing my work based level 2 diploma in Racehorse Care and Management
My position involved riding 4 horses each morning and delivering basic health care treatment during the evening shift. Furthermore, I was able to attend race meetings with the 4 horses under my evening care and when given the opportunity, take part in sales events.
Additionally, I experienced my first winter working with youngstock which helped to enhance a better understanding and knowledge of young racehorses, all of which helped towards completing course modules which lead to obtaining a Level 2 Diploma.
When given a break to return home from university Clarehaven has become a regular place to visit. I work on a very flexible part-time basis and am fortunate to help in the assistance of Mr Gosdens Thoroughbred training operation.
This role involved a range of tasks such as providing a high levels of customer satisfaction through product knowledge and providing an attentive service, assisting customers with product selection and sales, recommending items to increase transaction value, acknowledging customer needs and preferences to provide targeted advice increasing sales opportunities and advising merchandise based on exact customer needs, improving sales conversion rates.
I was trained across the whole of the the branch operational services, including the delivery driving department.
