English teacher teaching in years 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13.


Careers advisor to students years 9-14. In this role I developed a careers curriculum to meet the school's careers provision for all years. In addition, I sourced employer engagement opportunities to meet needs of students and statutory obligations.

Class teacher in the sixth form - mixed age group of years 12-14. Delivered core and life skills and independence curriculum. I co-designed the KS5 three year curriculum.


As careers leader I accomplished 100% rating in all Gatsby Benchmark categories - establishing a careers provision offering work experience, enterprise, community engagement, careers curriculum, employer engagement activities and talks, visits to alternative provisions to ensure students were aware of local offer. In addition, after completing a Level 6 in Careers Guidance and Development, I was able to offer careers advise for students in years 11-14. I raised the profile of careers in the school and with parents using newsletters, school website, parent surveys and notice boards.

Based at the Cherry trees School (for primary aged boys with social and emotional mental health needs) I was also humanities leader (2006-2014).

I am a robust classroom manager:

  • I work with students to develop a strong ethos of fairness, clarity and community I will assign roles to students to help them develop a sense of ownership and pride around the classroom

Student centered learning:

  • My planning and delivery reflects the needs of my students to engage them to learn As a recent class teacher, I had a full spectrum of students' whose needs ranged from working at Functional Skills Level 2, non verbal students, students with PMLD and also students with challenging behaviours associated with autism


Administration:

  • I use students' curriculum and (where appropriate) EHCP targets to guide planning and delivery
  • my last performance management highlighted the fact that students met their predicted levels in all Functional Skills areas
  • targets are revisited regularly to consolidate and build on knowledge
  • deadlines and responsibilities are successfully managed met such as annual reports, data administration, parents' evenings as well as maintaining and developing contact with caregivers
