• Promote equality, diversity, and decency, challenging inappropriate behaviour from staff or prisoners.

• Maintain the safety and security of prisoners, staff, and visitors within a custodial environment.
• Supervise prisoners during daily routines, including movement, meals, work, education, and association.
• Conduct searches of prisoners, cells, and communal areas in line with security procedures.
• Monitor prisoner behaviour and report concerns, risks, or incidents appropriately.
• Enforce prison rules, policies, and control measures fairly and professionally.
• Respond effectively to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, using approved control and restraint techniques when required.
• Support prisoner rehabilitation by encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with programmes.
• Carry out reception, induction, and release procedures accurately and respectfully.
• Maintain accurate written and electronic records, including incident reports and logs.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare, and external agencies to support safe custodial operations.
