Role: Administrative assistant to three large animal veterinarians
I was responsible for the efficient running of the busy practice. Some of my duties included sending out reports and links for the downloading of online x-rays. Sending out quotes for various procedures, applying to the State Vet for African Horse Sickness permission, liaising with the Government Quarantine Station, answering of the telephone, dealing with account
queries, invoicing of the clients, running the monthly statements, and dealing with debt collection. Filling repeat prescriptions for clients and sending scripts to our suppliers for compound medication. The practice ran on a full veterinary computer program on which I was responsible for the accurate capturing of the medical history and charges, as well as inputting all the drug invoices and undertaking stock control and stock reports. I was responsible for the payment of both the staff salaries and the suppliers' statements via online banking as well as ensuring the timeous release of Forex payments and the VAT and PAYE payment after the accountant had captured them on e-filing. The capturing of all the debtors and creditors payments and the bank
reconciliation on QuickBooks for the accountant to finalise was also one of my monthly tasks. I assisted the Doctor with her three veterinary retail shops by undertaking the online banking,
paying salaries and suppliers and when she was on leave, I took over the management of the retail staff. Left to move to Scotland.
I have worked in office administration for over 30 years, including running a busy veterinary practice for 3 mobile vets for 10 years, This required effective organisational skills, which gave me valuable insight into all aspects of what is required to deal with numerous people at all levels
