I currently run my own small CNC machining business.

Daily tasks include CAD/CAM programming, setting, running CNC machines, invoicing, ordering materials. Products range from yellow goods to recreational sport items.

I use Solidworks / Fusion360 software for 3D modelling to drive the CAM, aswell as hand programming.

CNC controllers that i am proficient with are Fanuc (Nakamura/Haas), Siemens(DMGMori), Mitsubishi (Citizen).

• GDS Technologies design and manufacture complete gas detection systems for use in hotels, car parks, mines, or offshore locations.
• Their products range from stand-alone sensors up to 128 sensors hardwired to a main controller via binary CAN-bus communication.
• I started in the test and calibration department configuring complete systems with flammable (LeL), oxygen depletion, or hazardous gases. When I could, I spent time in the design department learning how to design the next generation of equipment. I was then tasked with the redesigning of the PCB component layout, when the employee that did this retired. Because I started to undertand how the PCBs worked, I started to fix faulty boards rather than them being thrown out. I eventually was able to create a flow diagram on 'how to fix' most major problems, which other test and calibration engineers could follow.
