Carer with nearly 2 years experience in a Residential Care home, Recognized for the ability to monitor and provide emotional and physical support to staff and residents. I posses excellent communication abilities, as well as cultural sensitivity to care for diverse people.
During my time at The White House Care home not only did I hand out teas and coffees but I also participated in helping in personal care of the elderly whilst preserving dignity and treating them with respect and kindness, I also made sure there clothes were washed, dried and ironed ready for them to wear that day. I also sometimes helped in the kitchen as a kitchen assistant washing dishes, drying and putting away dishes and assisting the chef to hand out meals at lunch and dinner time.
Whilst in the care home, I managed to improve a list of skills, such as time-management, social skills and organisational skills. In my role as a tea hostess a shift would be 2 or three hours, in the morning or in the evening and even though this is a short amount of time, a lot needs to be done which means I had to learn how not to fall behind with my tasks, this improved every shift I participated in.
My social skills improved tremendously because I was having to interact with the elderly, the elderlies family and new staff nearly every shift.
