- Duties at PD Ports include working alone or as part of a team in the loading and also discharge of both bulk and steel vessels, which in turn provided lots of slinging experience with different types of slinging on steel products, such as bites and cradles when handling steel cargo.
- Loading and discharging various types of road wagons using machines such as Front End Loading Shovel & Forklifts whilst always adhering to safe systems of work and training provided, my experience doing this is directly as the operator or banksman alongside the operator.
- Performing daily pre use checks on all equipment and machines I'd operate to adhere to training standards and in line with best practice.
- Assessing the site when on shift and going to working location to make sure no new Health & Safety hazards had arisen, if so reporting them to the appointed person and coning/blocking the area off if necessary.
- I have also agreed to partake in a new buddy system that is being introduced in Bulks, this is to aid newer starters and show them best practice or giving them pointers when I'd feel they might need it.

- Welded materials in Flat, Overhead & Vertical positions in both a workshop & site environment.
- Worked alongside site installers in the development and installation of large steel structures on sites in various locations across the UK, whilst always communicating to ensure the job ran smoothly.
- Here I learned to use equipment such as Rollers, Press Brakes & Oxy-Acetylene torches and also CNC Plasma cutters for cutting and shaping steel.
- Whilst working in site environments using several different welding processes I'd also use Angle grinders and cutting equipment when the job required it, this meant I'd often have to do dynamic risk assessments and on the job problem solving as the nature of the job wasn't always the same.
