  • During the Christmas period, I worked at a temporary ice rink as an ice steward, along with other roles. Customer service was highly valued here, as during the Christmas period, many customers would come to the ice rink with families and friends to enjoy a day out for the festivities.
  • My role here was to enhance the smoothness of customers arriving at the ice rink, getting equipment, and ice skates, and then leaving with no problems. To achieve this, I would happily answer any questions from customers and explain the whole procedure of the ice rink to make it as easy as possible. I would also be responsible for card payments on the skating aids, if children needed them. I handled this in a professional manner, as skating aids could only be distributed based on height, which some customers did not meet. I also had the opportunity to handle payments for ticket purchases. Some customers would not pre-book their tickets, allowing me to handle card payments and tickets at the door.

  • During my time as a waitress for The Hawthorns, I would use the skills that I successfully learned on the job to run food and drinks out for residents in a professional manner. These skills included being timely and efficient, as the restaurant ran on two-hour time slots for food and drinks to be served in. Additionally, I understand that teamwork is a major skill to acquire within jobs such as hospitality. A positive guest experience is the motive behind being a waitress, and with teamwork, this can be achieved. I have learnt that with strong teamwork, busy shifts can seem less stressful and keep service efficient, leading to a more successful restaurant and customer experience overall.
  • At The Hawthorns, handling customer complaints was held in high regard as the customers were residents in a premium retirement living environment. Every complaint was taken seriously and handled in a respectful manner, as the residents should expect a high level of care and service. Furthermore, I supported the well-being of the residents in and outside the restaurant, which helped me to adapt a communication style and reliability to suit the older residents, to prioritise comfort.
