For 18 years I have been a qualified lifeguard and for the last 13 years I have worked at Huttoft Primary School. Where I have grown and gone from strength to strength. From starting out as a 1:1 to now student support and welfare officer. I now support the Head teacher and CEO of the company.
My main roles include, keeping daily attendance up to date, seeking out those children who have fallen below the national average and highlight these to the relevant SLT, I have regular meetings with the Family Liaison Officer to look at ways to try and improve children’s attendance including home visits and meetings with stakeholders. I also work closely with the SENCO to support children with SEN needs. I take minutes from the meetings and put into practice any adjustments required to support their learning, support writing of EHCP’s and Early Help Assessments, as well as dealing with emails from outside agencies, arranging appointments and supporting parents.
I monitor the Single Central Record which is paramount to Safeguarding children, by processing DBS’s for those who work and volunteer in school. I keep staff personal files and training records up to date and support the Headteacher with his regular Headteacher’s report that is delivers to the Local Governing Body.
I mange key software that we use in school such as ParentMail which is used for as a daily means of communication as well as a platform for payments, parents evening, clubs and Nursery payments. Each month I process Nursery hours and claim funded hours from Synergy, then process invoices to parents and attend Leadership briefings to support the Nursery children. In addition to this, I have recently been on a course, ‘Making it REAL’ where I will support 3 year olds with their homes with Early Literacy skills. I also support the PTA in fundraising events, from this we are able to offer the children memorable experiences such as class trips for which I am the events co-ordinator.
In every opportunity I have been given I put my heart into it. When the opportunity to become a trainer was handed to me, I felt it was another step to add to my achievements and with being a lifeguard for some time and my knowledge of First Aid, it felt like a natural progression. I feel I have so much to give to help and support those who want to trainer as a first aider. I feel I have acquired the key qualities to enable me t pass on my experience and the expertise this training will give me.
