Throughout my one week of work experience in a reception class i helped build resilience within the students, as well as determination, encouraging them to complete certain tasks throughout their transition week. During this work experience all of the year groups had transition days where they experienced the year group they would be moving up to, therefore i worked with the nursery class as well. This was a more challenging experience as they had no understanding of how to adapt to the new year group therefore i had to help motivate them to join in with different activities and tasks throughout this time.
In this role i provided excellent customer service, handled cash transactions, maintained cleanliness, restocked products, and assisted customers with recommendations.
Throughout my one week of work experience in a PE department i learnt a lot from a teacher's perspective, in the sense of lesson plans during theory sessions and tutor, as well as for the practical lessons. During free periods i would clean out the sports hall cupboards, reorganising and pumping up balls and untangling badminton court nets. I also was given the opportunity to create my own lesson plan for a practical lesson, the group was split into two, with the teacher leading one group and me leading the other, this meant that the class had two sets of activities run by different people and they then had the chance to give advice at the end to help improve the lesson plan. This structured criticism allowed me to create a better lesson plan which i used for a different class.
Kitchen manager- During my time at ozzel bowl as the kitchen manager my time management improved massively, orders came in regularly for food, and there would also be pre-booked kids parties, junior parties, and bowl and baskets, therefore i had to mange my time better through working out the time i had before getting the food out to each individual group. I also became very good at multi-tasking, especially when there were bigger food orders, using the pizza oven, fryer, griddle, panini maker etc. at the same time, i had to become very aware with the timings of each food item cooking. During this job role i also had to work out food waste totals, aswell as working out the total stock amounts left in the business and what was ordered throughout the year. On top of this, i had to complete weekly food orders, complete stock rotations, label all food products, including bolognese and chilli which i batch cooked as and when it was needed, these two food items required three lots of labelling each, these being- made on date, frozen on date, and use by date.
Customer Service and bar work- I have experience working in a busy bowling alley environment, where I was responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the bowling areas, bar, kitchen and customer facilities. My role also involved providing excellent customer service, welcoming and assisting customers, taking orders and handling queries in a friendly and professional manner. I have experience working behind the bar, including serving customers, preparing drinks, maintaining cleanliness and following responsible service procedures. In addition, I have experience as a Kitchen Manager, where I was responsible for overseeing the kitchen, organising staff, maintaining food hygiene and safety standards, managing stock, preparing food and ensuring the kitchen operated efficiently during busy periods. This experience has helped me develop strong communication, teamwork, organisation, leadership and customer service skills while working effectively under pressure.
Customer service advisor (concierge)- In my role as a customer service advisor, in was responsible for delivering excellent front-line service to a wide range of customers. I would provide clear and helpful advice on memberships and services, process bookings and payments, and handle general administrative tasks to support the smooth running of daily operations.
Catering Assistant- As a catering assistant, i played a key role in supporting food and beverage operations, ensuring a high standard of service for both events, and managing inventory and ordering processes.
