Working in the retail store I was responsible for steaming the clothes so they are presentable in the store, pricing the donations, printing the gift aid stickers off the laptop, tagging the clothes and putting the size on the hanger. I have been working at Osborne School on a Supported Internship through Eastleigh College. I have been helping staff with the personal care of the students. I support the class teacher to help children and encourage them to learn. Osborne School is a school for pupils with learning disabilities aged 11-19. I have been using the hoist to help move children into their different chairs, and using different Mobility Equipment such as Wheelchairs to support the children moving around the school. I have been learning about eye gaze communication devices, learning how to use wheelchair belts, lap belts, and support straps to make sure the children are safe. I enjoy helping a girl who needs the support of a wheelchair in cooking. I also am responsible for taking photos with the class iPad for the class teacher . I have been helping with feeding non verbal children at lunch and he has a communication tablet that he uses to tell you what he wants to eat and I enjoyed it because it was my 1st time to feed him. i am supporting a member of staff with tube feed with unable children in the wheelchair. I have been joining in staff meetings, and using sign language to communicate to members of staff who are deaf and childrens . answering the classroom phone to pass a message to members of staff and non verbal staff. displaying the lesson on the timetable for the next day . supporting a child at their workstation. go and take some children to their mini bus every day.
